Steel Eye

The Steel Eye is formed from two 8 foot (2.5m) diameter contact lenses in stainless steel and set on a base, with an open eye hole for a variety of reflective and acoustic effects. This garden sculpture has been picked up by many galleries worldwide due to its impact.

I wanted a real focal point at the end of an avenue; something to really draw the eye as it were. I loved what the eye does to the surrounding area, how it changes it through it’s reflective nature, mirroring the sun and clouds as they danced by. It Charges the area with power and a new dimensionality.

I made my first eye 13 years ago now and have never tired of it. It is timeless!
